A day after BNP expressed its solidarity with medical admission seekers’ movement, its student body Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on Thursday announced countrywide demonstrations for Saturday demanding fresh admission tests of MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS).

In a statement, signed by JCD acting president Mamunur Rashid and general secretary Akramul Hasan, declared the programme to be observed in all the divisional cities and district towns.

The JCD leaders expressed their solidarity with the medical admission seekers’ demand for the cancellation of results of the medical and BDS admission tests and retaking of the tests as question papers of the exams got leaked.

They also demanded the government ensure punishment of those involved in question paper leakage and attacked the demonstrating students.

Mamun and Akram urged the government to release the students arrested for staging demonstrations to press home their demand.

Earlier on Wednesday, BNP spokesman Asaduzzaman Ripon at a press briefing expressed the party’s solidarity with medical admission seekers’ movement.

The party also urged the government to meet the students demand for restoring discipline in the education sector.

Amid the allegation of question paper leak, the results of the admission tests of MBBS and BDS were published on September 20 last with a pass rate of 58.4 percent. A total of 48,484 students passed the examinations held on September 18 this year.

A group of medical admission seekers have been on a movement demanding fresh admission tests since announcement of the results.
