Thereport24.com Correspondent, Rangpur:

A four-member delegation is waiting in Rangpur as authorities concerned are set to hand over the body of Japanese national Hoshi Kunio anytime on Wednesday, district police control room sources said.

Neither any police official nor any member of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) staff disclosed anything about the process of handing over the body.

When Thereport24.com asked Professor Dr Jakir Hossain, principal of Rangpur Medical College, about how and when the body is likely to be handed over to the delegation.

The principal denied comment and left the scene in a hurry.

Earlier on Tuesday night, the Japanese delegation, accompanied by police, had observed Kunio’s body at the hospital mortuary for two hours.

After emerging from the mortuary, the delegation did not talk to the media and left the RMCH.

Prior to the observation, a team from the forensic medicine department of the medical college carried out an autopsy on Kunio’s body on Sunday.

On October 3, Kunio, 66, was gunned down by unidentified miscreants at Alutari village in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur.

The Japanese citizen came to Bangladesh in the first week of February to work in an agricultural project under which he grew and developed a new variety of Napier grass on 2 acres of leased land around 5 km near the village.

Meanwhile, a court in Rangpur granted a ten-day remand to two killer suspects including a local BNP leader in Kunio killing case on Tuesday.

Earlier on September 28, Italian citizen Cesare Tavella, 50, was also shot to death by unidentified miscreants at Gulshan diplomatic zone area in the capital city.
