Alison Blake new British HC to Bangladesh

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FOC) of the United Kingdom has appointed Alison Blake as the new British High Commissioner to Bangladesh.

The FOC, in an official announcement on Monday, said “Alison has been appointed British High Commissioner to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in succession to Mr Robert W Gibson CMG. Blake will take up her appointment during January 2016.”

Gibson “will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment” according to the announcement.

Blake discharged duties in Islamabad as Deputy High Commissioner from 2011-2014.

Alison is a native Londoner, with a keen interest in Ancient and Modern History, which she studied at Oxford University. After completing her BA in 1983, she worked as an archaeologist in London.

Following that, Alison worked for an economic policy research think tank before entering the British Civil Service in 1989, according to the biography available on UK government website (GOV.UK).
