Army recovers arms, ammo from Bandarban

Bangladesh Army has recovered firearms and ammunition, including one Shark-2 Rifle, two grenade, seven magazines and 222 rounds of bullets, from a ‘terrorists’ den’ in a remote area of Ruma in Bandarban district.

The Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) in a handout on Friday said different units of the Army, led by Ruma Army Zone, conducted a joint drive at remote area of Ruma on Wednesday night and the early hours on Thursday.

During the operation drive, the Army team swooped on a suspected terrorists’ den in the early hours of Thursday.

Sensing presence of the Army members, the criminals opened fire ensuing a gun battle.

At one stage, the criminals fled the scene.

Later, the members of the Army recovered one Shark-2 Rifle, two grenades, seven magazines, 222 rounds of bullets, one walkie-talkie, two knives, one LMG magazine and one combat uniform from the den.
