On October 03, Japanese national Kunio Hoshi, 66, was shot dead at Alutila village in Rangpur district and five days after Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella, 50, was gunned down in Gulshan diplomatic zone of the capital city on September 28.

Both foreigners were slain in same way. Bike-riding masked assailants had been lurking in the vicinity, waiting for their victims, fired shots and fled the scene.

Islamist militant group Islamic State reportedly claimed the responsibility of both killings, which the government has rejected claiming IS has no existence on Bangladesh soil.
